A Generation of Pretense

Openness and honesty are scarce.

Thousands toil around in luxurious clothing,

flossing in improved four-wheeled carts,

indulging in daily, weekly, yearly leisure,

lying to the witnesses how well they are fairing

The Feast of Human Hands is not their portion.

Weak hands that can't do heavy-weight tasks have become their identity.

Cheating opportunities and abstaining from sweat bring them temporary joy.

Their work delivery is wanting, yet they yearn for a luxurious lifestyle.

Soft life has blinded them,

seeing beyond the softness has become a taboo.

Various obscure techniques are employed,

to maintain the lifestyle they've indulged in.

When things go south, who do they blame?

The government, the society, family members, friends?

Pressure from peers have consumed them

Being viewed as outdated kills them

Competition is what they acknowledge

hence pulling a condescending move.

The fear of being rejected has led;

many to act like beasts, yet they are helpless sheep,

many to pretend to be rich, yet they are in debts,

many to indulge in an immoral lifestyle.

How damaging this is to mental, emotional, and physical health.

Whatever happened to openness and honesty?!
